The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo started in 1989 as Zooland Animal Park. In 2000, it was renamed to Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.

The zoo has kids summer camps each summer, as well as offering animal encounters, zookeeper show & tell, and close-up views of the exhibits.
